This Privacy Policy describes how MindBites (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
MindBites does not require account signup, an email, or a name to use the app. When you tap the AI generation feature, the topic or question you type is sent to our backend so we can generate a bite for you.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Anonymous authentication ID. A random identifier generated by Firebase Authentication so we can save your library and preferences without asking you for an account.
- Device and usage data. App version, OS version, device model, approximate country, language, crash reports, and interaction events (which screens you open, which bites you save). Collected via Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and Performance Monitoring.
- Subscription state. Whether you have an active premium entitlement (via Adapty). We do not receive or store your payment card details; those stay with Apple, Google, and Adapty.
1.3 Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, location, microphone, or camera.
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
2. How We Use Information
- To deliver the app: serve bites, save your library, sync progress.
- To generate personal AI bites when you request them.
- To improve the app: understand which features work, fix bugs, tune performance.
- To enforce rate limits (10 AI bites/day for members) and prevent abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Third-Party Services
We use trusted providers to run the app. Each has its own privacy policy which governs data they process on our behalf:
- Google Firebase — authentication, Firestore database, storage, analytics, crash reporting, remote config, App Check.
- Adapty — subscription management and paywall configuration.
- fal.ai — LLM inference for AI-generated bites (your prompt is sent for processing, never stored beyond the request lifecycle).
- ElevenLabs — text-to-speech generation for AI bite audio.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — app distribution and payment processing.
4. Data Retention
Anonymous account data (your library, saved bites, AI bite history) is retained as long as your anonymous ID exists on your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing app data severs the link to your anonymous account. Analytics events are retained for up to 14 months.
5. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA (California), KVKK (Türkiye), or similar laws to:
- Access the personal data associated with your anonymous ID.
- Request deletion of your library, AI bite history, and analytics data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent (by uninstalling the app).
To exercise these rights, email us at mindbites@makduman.com. Because we do not collect identifying information, please include your anonymous user ID (Settings → About → Debug info) so we can locate your data.
6. Children
MindBites is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app and provided information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard practices: TLS for data in transit, encrypted storage at rest, Firebase App Check to prevent unauthorized backend access, and rate limits on all functions. No online service is 100% secure — please tell us if you spot something at mindbites@makduman.com.
8. International Transfers
Our backend runs on Google Cloud infrastructure. Your data may be processed in regions outside your country of residence, including the United States and the European Union. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
